How Did That Rock Get There?

Granite Mountain Trail head is part of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve located in North Scottsdale. This is a very easy hike with only 230 feet elevation which isn’t much. the 6.9 mile round trip is full of lush desert vegetation unusually more than most other Arizona hiking trails I have been on. This is a great trail for hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers.

To get to Granite Mountain Trailhead from Loop 101 take Pima Road exit and head north to Dynamite Blvd. Head east on Dynamite Blvd and then north on 136th street until you see the sign for Granite Mountain Trail head. The address is 31402 n. 136th st 85262

The biggest pay off on this hike are the photo opportunities you get at Balanced Rock. As you can see the scenery here is phenomenal and the photos you take here are sure to impress everyone.
