Lookout Mountain is located just south of Greenway Road and west of Cave Creek. It is the perfect hiking spot for anyone that wants to do an easy hike that’s in city and scenic all at the same time.
My first hike at Lookout Mountain was a blast. We ended up hiking both the Summit Trail and the Circumference Trail for a total of 2.70 miles round trip. The elevation wasn’t bad at all, roughly 469 feet.
The trail started out flat and it quickly looped around Lookout Mountain. Before we knew it we were at the peak looking out at the city around us. This is definitely a satisfying hike without a lot of effort to get there.
If you have never hiked Lookout Mountain please pay attention to the trails you’re on. Many of them do intersect and it can get confusing. It’s best to have a map and a plan if you decide to try different trails so that you’ll know how to get back to your starting point.
