Slide Rock is located just seven miles north of Sedona, Arizona in Oak Creek Canyon along Highway 89a. The address to get there is 6871 State Rte 89A, Sedona, AZ 86336.

Whether you’re a tourist visiting Arizona or if you happen to reside here in The Valley Of The Sun, Slide Rock is definitely a good place to visit with friends and family. The best times to visit Slide Rock are in the summer months from June – August when temperatures climb to the 80’s and 90’s. Summer months are also peak season for Slide Rock and that means full parking lots and cars packed with tourists looking for Arizona attractions.

Once the parking lot gets full only one vehicle is a loud to enter when another one leaves. Entering the parking lot will cost you $10.00 per vehicle. Prices do change depending on the season so make sure you call the park to verify (928) 282-3034.

September is when traffic starts to slow down at Slide Rock as fall season begins to kick in bringing brisk temperatures to around 60’s and 70’s. If you don’t mind cold water you can play in the swimming holes and even slide down the sliding rocks but a word of caution here. The boulders in and around the water are extremely slippery due to algae growth over time so please be careful not to slip and hurt yourself.  If the cold water hasn’t scared you off by now then you might want to try cliff jumping as well. There are three spots at Slide Rock where you can jump off cliffs and they range in height between 10 to 50 feet high.

Slide rock has a few hiking trails as well but you’ll be disappointed here if you’re looking for something challenging. There are only three trails the longest one being three miles.

  1. Pendley Homestead Trail (.25 miles)
  2. Slide Rock Route (.3 miles)
  3. Clifftop Nature Trail (.25)

If you happen to forget anything by the time you get to the parking lot don’t stress too much. Slide Rock offers public restrooms, picnic tables and a small convenience store for snacks and supplies.
